All-Stars turn on the style at Cleethorpes

The Lashings All-Stars produced a stylish display at Cleethorpes Town on Friday, romping to a 9-1 win, despite going a goal down early on.

Cleethorpes took a tenth minute lead through Dave Walsh, whose long-range shot left keeper David Smith floundering, but Lashings quickly responded when England Futsal international Aaron Cato set up Nicky Southall for the equaliser.

The All-Stars then effectively settled the outcome with three goals in ten minutes just before the break. Ade Akinbiyi scored twice with two muscular headers before Southall made it 4-1 from the spot with a penalty after a foul on Frank Sinclair.

Cato made it five after the restart with a superb solo goal that saw him nutmeg a defender twice in the area before rolling the ball in while he was falling over after a foul. Andy Mason then missed a penalty for Cleethorpes before Danny Granville scored the sixth.

Local guest player Mitch Cordingly scored the seventh with an impressive finish before Sinclair stole the show with an astonishing solo goal, beating multiple challenges before rifling in a shot from the edge of the box. Guest player Tom Fagg added the ninth.
