If you are a school, charity or worthy cause we try to look favourably at assisting you in any way we can.
Although Lashings runs to a tight schedule throughout the season we aim to make it our priority to be available for worthwhile causes, particularly community schemes.
Please do not hesitate to put your request in writing via e-mail. We will then make a detailed assessment of your case and respond accordingly.
Initiatives with which we have been directly involved in recent years have included:-
- A Lord's Taverners fixture raised funds for a bus for handicapped children and attracted thousands of spectators.
- A Bunbury XI fixture watched by a crowd of thousands raised funds for Dame Norma Major's MENCAP Charity appeal.
- A game at Wimbledon CC to raise money for a Zimbabwean cricketer who was paralysed after an accident. Again, thousands of people came to watch the action.
- Involvement with the BBC's Comic Relief day in Tunbridge Wells.
- Assistance with the Cambridge University women's team to raise funds for women's cricket.
- Festival of Lights tournament for Brent Council to promote racial equality attended by thousands of people.
- A match at Bury CC watched by a sizeable crowd that raised money for a kidney machine for a local hospital.
- Support for the Maidstone Borough Council's six-a-side tournament for youngsters.
- A Charity Challenge Match in 2004 that raised over £15,000 for the East Anglia Children's Hospices and the Zimbabwe Agricultural Welfare Trust.
Well over a quarter of our games each season are played for charities (in addition to the fixtures against schools, universities and smaller clubs).
