Giving Our Heroes a Future
THE Lashings All-Stars are linking up with the Futures For Heroes charity for the 2015 season.
Futures for Heroes, founded in 2013, is a charity based in East Kent that supports ex servicemen and women in crisis - veterans that find themselves homeless, long term unemployed and / or those that are experiencing well being issues that affect the quality of their lives.
At their Centre, on Discovery Park, Sandwich they offer veterans advice, camaraderie and friendship along with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities from making items in their wood workshop or repairing bicycles or maintaining cars in fully equipped technician bays through to sports and social activities via their gym, indoor shooting range, playing pool / darts or being creative in the arts and crafts and music room.
Under the partnership, Futures for Heroes will be helping staff Lashing events this year, with recovering ex servicemen assisting in both the logistical and catering operations.
Linda Jones ( Founder and CEO of Futures for Heroes ) said "we are most grateful to Lashings for partnering with us, which we hope will help raise awareness of the problems faced by some veterans after service and we are very much looking forward to the attending events."
Lashings' James Honey-Green said: "We're delighted to be joining forces with Futures For Heroes. We believe they perform vital work and are honoured to be associated with servicemen who have given so much to this country."
The Lashings All-Stars will be touring the UK this summer, bringing world-class cricketers to every corner of the country.
