Giddins rejoins the Lashings fold

More exciting news on the player front for the Lashings World XI, as their Chairman David Folb announced that English swing bowler Ed Giddins, who played a few matches for Lashings during the 2004 season, is returning to the squad to take part in the Lashings World XI tour to Abu Dhabi in February 2008. Furthermore, said Folb, he will also be part of the Lashings World XI squad for the 2008 season.

Giddins, who played 4 Tests for England, has had what could politely be described as a "colourful" career, and is known as much for his off-field exploits as his undoubted abilities with the ball on the field. He had a 12-year career in first class cricket playing for Hampshire, Warwickshire, Surrey and Sussex and is one of a select few players to have achieved more wickets (709) than runs (642) in his career!

With Giddins added to the lineup, the provisional Lashings World XI squad for the tour to Abu Dhabi (22-29/2/08) is as follows:

Richie Richardson (WI) (Capt)

Alvin Kallicharran (WI) (Manager)

Chris Adams (ENG)

Jimmy Adams (WI)

Marvan Atapattu (SL)

Greg Blewett (AUS)

Chris Cairns (NZ)

Mark Ealham (ENG)

Grant Flower (ZIM)

Ed Giddins (ENG)

Chris Harris (NZ)

Graeme Hick (ENG)

Adam Hollioake (ENG)

Rashid Latif (PAK) (wk)

Azhar Mahmood (PAK)

Chris Silverwood (ENG)
