Phil Higgins, one of the most ardent supporters of the Lashings World XI in the club's formative years, has informed us of his reluctant decision to step down from the Lashings Advisory board.
"I just feel it's the right thing to do and the right time to do it," said Higgins, "My umpiring commitments during the cricket season mean I'm unable to maintain the close contact required with Lashings, and my gut feeling is that the time has come to step down, albeit with some reluctance. However, it has been a pleasure and an honour to assist in the running of the best cricket club in the world, and I still hold the club and its players in the highest regard."
Lashings World XI Chairman David Folb has yet to name a replacement for Phil on the Advisory Board, but he told us to expect an announcement in due course. He also wished Phil well and thanked him for his efforts in helping to get the Lashings World XI to where it is today.
