At the end of the 2007 season, it was announced that the Lashings Auction Division was proving such a success that it looked as though Lashings as a whole were going to push past the break-even mark for the first time. We're glad to say that this appears to be a certainty, and today Lashings World XI Chairman David Folb made an announcement that astonished us all - "Thanks to the continued success of the Lashings Auction Division and additional fund raising, it makes me very happy to announce that Lashings pledge to redirect any excess funds into our mission to take the Lashings World XI to grass roots cricket, specifically to subsidise matches against the kind of teams that would not otherwise have the facilities or resources to stage such a match."With the Lashings Auction Division currently running around 100 events per year, this can only translate into good news for the lower echelons of the cricket world as this side of Lashings develops further.
