Lashings World XI confirm Emirates Palace deal

Exciting news for Lashings World XI today, as they announced that the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, the world's leading hotel, has confirmed a two year sponsorship deal worth up to $1,000,000 US - the most exciting deal in the club's history.

As part of the deal, Lashings World XI will be travelling to Abu Dhabi at least twice a year for the "Emirates Palace Cricket Festival." David Folb, Chairman of the Lashings World XI, describes the Emirates Palace as "nothing less than sensational". He said, "Working alongside the best hotel in the world, on the richest place on the planet, will be a truly remarkable experience and will help develop cricket in Abu Dhabi. Also, in conjunction with the sponsorship, many corporate guests and supporters will be able to bid for Emirates Palace Holidays benefiting many charities and great causes".

Lashings World XI players and staff have the highest regard of the Emirates Palace Hotel, here are just a few comments we received immediately after Lashings stayed at the Emirates Palace in February 2008:

"This Hotel is simply the best." -Alvin Kallicharran

"The hotel was fantastic - at least you have walked off your meal before you get back to your room, the hotel is so vast! All the staff at Emirates Palace hotel were very friendly and hospitable too." -  Graeme Hick

"What a magnificent place the Emirates Palace is. We need to come back again to look around the parts of the hotel we couldn't fit in this time!" - Devon Malcolm

"The Emirates Palace is the best hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The food, the surroundings and most importantly the service was exemplary." - Chris Cairns

"I can't say enough about the hotel and the staff, the palace was, well, a palace and the staff were so friendly, it really made the stay a very nice and memorable experience." - Grant Flower

"The name truly befits the Emirates "Palace" Hotel. The grandeur of the hotel environment and the outstanding service we received made us feel truly "Royal". The never ending selection of food offered, especially the seafood selection, was fantastic." - Marvan Atapattu

"When I started at Sussex CCC in 1990, Norman Gifford [the head coach] told me that cricket is a passport around the world. 18 years later, he has been proved correct; however for all the great places I've visited, this has to be the most extraordinary in terms of grandeur, quality and service." - Ed Giddins

"The Emirates Palace Hotel was as good as any tourist attraction that I had been to, let alone stayed in, and I enjoyed wandering through the vast corridors, although I have to admit being lost a couple of times! If the Emirates Palace is a wonder of the world (I am voting for it to be added!) then the pitch which materialized from nowhere was a miracle! I mean one day there was no sign of a cricket pitch, the next there was a whole arena, I decided that this could only have been pulled off in Abu Dhabi!" - Adam Hollioake

With praise like that from international cricketers, a breed who are notorious for being difficult to impress, the hotel really does have to be pretty special! If you want to judge for yourself, their website is http://www.emiratespalace.com/

Hans Olbertz, General Manager of the Emirates Palace Hotel, commented "The previous visit of Lashings to Abu Dhabi and the success of what will now be a twice-annual "Emirates Palace Cricket Festival" demonstrated that the Lashings World XI and the Emirates Palace Hotel fit together perfectly. I am looking forward to this being the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship between the two parties."
