Celebrities turn out to celebrate the re-launch of the ACLT.

Below is a press release from the ACLT (previously known as the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust), reporting the events of 28th April, where they relaunched the charity at a high-profile lunch in London. The ACLT is one of the charities supported by the Lashings World XI and the Lashings Fundraising Division were in attendance, as was Lashings World XI's Scott Charlton who acted as MC for the night, as well as quizmaster for their "Question of Sport" segment.

The press release read as follows:

The co-founders of the ACLT would like to say ‘thank you' to everyone who attended the re-launch of the ACLT event in London on Monday evening and to notify those who were not able to attend of what was a truly memorable experience.

Monday's ACLT re-launch event was a great success as celebrities and press turned out to support the charity as well as help to raise much needed funds. The event, which took place at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel in London, celebrated the re-launch of the charity, who unveiled a new line up of celebrity patrons as well as outlining new plans for the future.

A host of celebrities were in attendance to offer their valued support, including England international Micah Richards, Jermaine Defoe, Alastair Stewart, David Harewood, John Barnes and Simon Webbe, to name but a few.

Guests were stunned to see a celebrity team captained by T2 take on the men behind "The Sun‟ newspaper in a special version of "A Question of Sport and Entertainment‟. The celebs were pipped to the winning post by just a single point, but both teams were kind enough to donate money for every correct answer they gave.

Actor, David Harewood also made a moving speech to guests, highlighting his love for the charity, as well as his own experience of saving someone's life after donating bone marrow. "It was quite an emotional experience. It feels as if you have someone's life in your hands, which is why I consider myself lucky to have been a match for someone. I hope one day to meet the recipient to tell them it was a privilege". David‟s relationship with the ACLT was cemented after he joined the bone marrow register at one of numerous ACLT registration drives, which in turn led to him becoming a match.

Orin Lewis, founder of the ACLT said: "The Re-launch event has been a resounding success. We are all here delighted with the generosity of our guests and the event itself was great fun. The money raised will make a real difference in supporting our work and our new efforts to create our own bone marrow register, putting the ACLT in a position to help save the lives of even more people across the UK and abroad"
