End of an era as Paton departs

Today (Friday 26th September) is a sad day for the Lashings World XI as it was announced that John Paton, the Financial Director of the Lashings World XI, has reached the end of his tenure at the club and will be leaving today.

Paton, who had previously held what he said to be the "dubious honour" of being David Folb's bank manager before coming to Lashings, said "I have had a terrific three seasons with Lashings and have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the business. Whilst I had anticipated a less demanding role, this has turned out to be even more full time than banking!"

"Lashings is a fantastic brand that brings enjoyment to many in the world of cricket. I wish David and everyone connected with Lashings every success for the future."

In response to the news, Lashings Chairman David Folb said "John has always acted with total integrity and will be sorely missed at Lashings. He has many friends at Lashings and will always be welcome at any match."

"During my illness John was left with the thankless task of running the club virually single-handed but did a magnificent job. I would like to thank him personally for everything he has done for the business in the last three years."

In addition to keeping a tight rein on the finances of the club, Paton was also heavily involved with the running of the Lashings Auction Division and also the booking of fixtures and events for the Lashings World XI.
