Chris Cairns (NZ)

Internal Image

When Chris Cairns started his career with New Zealand - a career that extended to 62 tests and 215 ODIs - he was known initially as something of a tearaway with a slight rebel streak, however he matured quickly into one of the finest all round cricketers in the history of the game. Although impressive as they stand, a total tally of 8270 runs and 419 wickets in his international career doesn't really do him justice, due to a series of injuries at inopportune moments. However he was still mightily impressive when he took the field, as he became only the sixth man in the history of the game to do the "double" of 3000 runs/200 wickets in tests and also held the record for the most sixes in test cricket when he retired in 2004. His six-hitting exploits have also been the stuff of legend at Lashings and has proved to be unstoppable once he gets his eye in - he hit an incredible 91 sixes in 2007 and continued the run into 2008 with an incredible 140 off just 38 balls against an Etihad XI at the Emirates Palce Hotel in Abu Dhabi, during which he cleared the ropes no fewer than 19 times! When he's not with Lashings he's currently part of the Indian Cricket League, skippering the Chandigarh Lions, a team that includes Lashings team-mate Dinesh Mongia.
