One of the newest recruits to the Lashings World XI squad, Dinesh has already made an excellent first impression on his team mates as he joined the tour squad to Abu Dhabi in February 2008. In his first innings, against an Abu Dhabi CC Chairman's XI that was virtually a full strength UAE side, he proceeded to belt the ball all around the park to the tune of 79 in just 38 deliveries, bringing the team to the brink of victory. Previously, Dinesh represented India in 57 ODIs across seven years with an impressive personal best score of 159 not out against Zimbabwe in 2002. However, due to the extreme strength of the Indian batting order in that time he was never given an extended run in the side, nor was he given a chance at Test level - a fact that becomes even more surprising as you consider that his first class average (including stints at Lancashire and Leicestershire) is nearly 50. As well as playing for Lashings, Dinesh has also joined the Indian Cricket League setup and plays for the Chandigarh Lions under the captaincy of none other than Chris Cairns!
