Richie is the Lashings World XI club captain, and was the first "big name" signing for a side that, 12 years ago, was still a pub team plumbing the depths of the Maidstone & District Riverside League! He came to the side having just reached the end of an 86-Test, 224 ODI career, during which he captained the West Indies 111 times. His international statistics are, to say the least, impressive with 5949 Test runs at an average of just under 45, 16 Test centuries and 27 Test fifties. Add 4 ODI centuries and 44 ODI fifties and you get the kind of batsman who was voted one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Year in 1992. He's certainly been racking up the runs for Lashings since leaving the international game - in 2006 he scored his first ever double hundred of his career in any form of cricket at Eversley - but a dodgy knee in 2007 severely restricted his appearances, meaning he'll be even hungrier for runs when he plays this year!
