Another stalwart of the Lashings World XI squad, Rashid played 37 tests and 166 ODIs for Pakistan, and would have played a lot more were it not for several factors. The first was quite simply the presence of Moin Khan, with whom he effectively shared the wicketkeeping spot through the 1990s and into the 2000s. Second was a self-imposed "retirement" in 1994, where he blew the whistle on some fishy goings on within the Pakistan team, returning to the side a year or so later. Finally, the fickle nature of the Pakistan selectors never sat well with Rashid and his relationship with them was often somewhat prickly, eventually leading to his premature retirement in 2003 following a five match suspension for mistakenly claiming a grounded catch in a test against Bangladesh. He joined Lashings soon after this and since then audiences up and down the country have been treated to superb displays of his silky-smooth keeping and classy batting. In 2007 alone he took 10 lightning-fast stumpings and also treated us to fine centuries at Bexhill (against the 1066 Sporting Club Select XI) and Flamingo CC. He was also captain of the Lashings World XI for February's tour to Abu Dhabi and we're looking forward to seeing him perform again in 2008.
