One of English cricket's great characters, Ed had what could best be described as a "colourful" career over 12 years with Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Warwickshire, as well as 4 outings in international colours. However, his off-field antics overshadowed the fact that was a genuinely good bowler with a natural action that meant he could swing the ball both ways, and was lethal in overcast conditions and on wet pitches. He took five wickets in an innings on 22 occasions, and finished his career with a grand total of 709 wickets across all forms of the game. Coincidentally, that number just happens to be 65 higher than his career total of runs, so it's fair to say he wasn't exactly the most proficient of batsmen! He played for Lashings briefly back in 2004 and was also part of the recent Lashings World XI tour to Abu Dhabi, so we're glad to welcome Ed back into Lashings colours for 2008.
